My identity crisis!
I am having an identity crisis! My entire life in the state of Colorado, I have considered myself to be a Midwesterner and it turns out, I have been living a lie. While I feel pretty gosh darn Midwestern at heart, Colorado is not a part of that club. Evidently, I am not alone in this belief.
The Governor recently shared that we are a part of the West, specifically the Mountain West (I think someone just made that up). His shocking revelation created a buzz and it seems that 42% of Coloradans think they are in the Midwest. Denver is 1,000 miles from any coastline. So is Kansas City, so the whole thing doesn’t add up.
Denver used to be characterized as a “cow town” or a literal cow trading post. What could be less Cali and more Wisconsin than that? Historically, Colorado was the place where people said hello to everyone they encountered on a hiking trail, giving off that classic Midwestern friendly vibe. So, honestly, I sticking to my guns on this one.
