Is Your Kitchen Ugly?

On my vision board for 2025, I have a remodeled kitchen. Ours isn't super old or particularly awful in any way, but, it needs help with form and function, so might as well make it pretty too. And, as I remind my clients (to the point of exasperation), we spend the most time in the main living spaces!

If you have never remodeled a kitchen, the process starts with cabinets and builds out from there. Cabinets are typically the MOST expensive item on the budget. I am having two different companies show me their custom cabinet lines and their visions for the space and once I choose, we go through a design and rendering process, wait for the cabinets to be made and meanwhile, choose all of the other finishes (counters, appliances, lighting, etc).

I only share this because I know the process can seem daunting to some people and maybe my experiences along the way will be helpful.

Keeping up with the Jones's is a real thing and everyone wants to be current on trends. But I sometimes find that chasing trends can not only be exhausting and expensive, but also fruitless.

Designers all over are claiming the death of the white kitchen. Evidently, browns, taupes and natural woods are back. Now, I am personally sick of all white kitchens and I never really liked the grey trend. However, it should be known that despite these claims, I overwhelmingly find that the consumer has not moved past the white aesthetic. Why is this?

1. Timeless & Elegant

• White interiors never go out of style. They create a sophisticated and high-end look that appeals to buyers and homeowners alike.

2. Enhances Natural Light

• White surfaces reflect light, making spaces feel brighter and more open-especially valuable in homes with large windows.

3. Creates a Sense of Space

• Lighter tones make rooms appear larger and airier, which is ideal for maximizing the feel of smaller spaces.

4. Versatile & Adaptable

• White serves as a neutral canvas, allowing homeowners to easily incorporate new design trends, textures, or accent colors over time.

5. Increases Resale Appeal

• Many buyers are drawn to bright, neutral interiors because they can easily envision their own style within the space.
